Day 5: John 4 - He Chooses You

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
— John 4:39, KJV

Today’s Reading Passage: John 4

Most women didn’t go to a well to get water in the heat of the day. She did.

Most women didn’t have a reputation they were embarrassed by. She did.

Most women who were Samaritans didn’t talk to Jewish teachers. She did.

Yet, most women didn’t meet the Messiah. SHE DID!

Jesus didn’t choose the perfect woman, in a perfect setting to share that He was the Messiah. He went out of His way as He journeyed to Galilee to pass by Samaria to meet with her. And He knew every detail about her life.

No one was more surprised by Jesus’ choice to stop and talk with her than His disciples. Yet that didn’t matter to Jesus. He chose the unlikely and broken to spend time with. He chose her. And because of it, her excitement for the Lord exploded as she shared about Jesus to all she met afterward.

You may have a broken past. One that makes you embarrassed, or one that many people may not know about. Be encouraged friend that Jesus knows your deepest, darkest past. He cares about every detail of your life. Jesus chooses you and loves you regardless of your past. He wants you to find rest in Him.

What encouragement do you get knowing that you are chosen by God? That just like the Samaritan woman, God would go out of His way to find you to share in His love?
